I can’t wholeheartedly recommend writer/artist Chie Shinohara; although she does have her moments, for the most part her works just leave me cold. But apparently there are thousands of people who would disagree with me.
I would say that Umi no Yami, Tsuki no Kage is the best of her works that I’ve read. (The title was once commonly translated as "The Dark of the Sea, the Light of the Moon," though one of the CDs, at least, had the translation "The Darkness of the Sea, the Shadow of the Moon" on it.) So that might be a good test title to see what you think of her!

The Shinohara Chie Kyoufu Collection (篠原千絵恐怖コレクション) was released in two volumes under My First Big, and the Shinohara Chie Kyoufu Theater (篠原千絵恐怖シアター) in three volumes under My First Casual. The two series seem to have at least some of the same contents.
In addition to her horror comics, Shinohara wrote the novel series Kaette Kita Musume (還ってきた娘) 1-6, twice published by Shogakukan. She also wrote a Sora wa Akai Kawa no Hotori novel (see above).
And for the truly obsessed fan, or random cat lover, Shinohara is one of the artists involved in the Shoujo Mangaka-san Chi no Neko (少女まんが家さんちの猫), a photo gallery of the pet cats of ten girls’ comics artists.
